The (brief) story of how you met/fell in love:
We met while we were in medical school in Nebraska. After two years together, we had to move to different states for residency since I’m in the Air Force. We were doing the long distance for six years, and lived in four different states but we made it work! We’re so in love and forever thankful.
The destination wedding decision: something you’ve always wanted or came to love?
Something we have always wanted. We both love to travel and knew we wanted something non-traditional.
What made you choose your resort/destination?
We’ve been to Riviera Maya before and fell in love with the adorable downtown. It was also central and an easy airport for everyone to fly into from all over the states. We had guests coming from 15 different states and three countries!
How did you personalize your wedding and ceremony?
We used the ceremony outlined by the resort, but we wrote our own vows. I made all our floral arrangements for the ceremony and reception using silk flowers. We also gave out welcome bags to our guests that included custom tumblers, hangover kits and other travel goodies.
The funniest or most unusual moment was when…
The second dance of the night, my husband completely split open his pants getting low to Low by Flo Rida! He didn’t even skip a beat though and danced the night away.
The most memorable moment was when…
Walking down the aisle from the top of the stairs looking at each other and all of our friends and family. Plus a spectacular view from the rooftop!

Besides the wedding itself, what was your favorite part of your trip? Did you do any activities with your guests?
The Catamaran cruise with our guests provided by DestinationWeddings.com! It was definitely the highlight of our trip. Our guests are still talking about it!
If you could travel anywhere for your one-year anniversary, it would be:
Europe!
