The (brief) story of how you met/fell in love:

We met through mutual friends after college years, back home. We became best friends and after ten years of dating and enjoying life he proposed!

The destination wedding decision: something you’ve always wanted or came to love?

We vacationed once in St. Marten. We had such an amazing time and said to each other on the beach one day, “Wouldn’t it be fun to have friends here too?” The very next day we saw a couple getting married overlooking the beach, but it was just the two of them. It seemed so romantic, and the couple looked so happy.  We instantly fell in love with the destination wedding idea and decided that day that we definitely wanted to get married in paradise, but with our friends and family around us. We wanted to see the happiness on their faces while vacationing on a beautiful island.

What made you choose Couples San Souci?

Our Certied Destination Wedding Specialist actually suggested it. We were looking at other locations and I just wasn’t getting the warm fuzzy feeling I wanted. She sent me the information on Couples San Souci, and it just looked like the perfect mix of relaxation, beauty, and fun. It is a smaller resort so it felt more intimate.

How did you personalize your wedding and ceremony?

We had personalized napkins made with our colors, and I made guest welcome bags with local Jamaican favors, a map of the resort, and a thank you letter. I also made program fans for our ceremony.

The funniest or most unusual moment was when….

At the end of the reception we all jumped in the pool. 33 of our guests jumped in one by one and it was such a blast. The DJ kept playing and we all danced in the pool for about an hour. Everyone was just ecstatic and said it was the best wedding they had ever been to!

Your biggest piece of advice to couples planning a destination wedding would be:

Plan ahead and stick to a schedule and try to get everything done a month ahead of time. Ask as many questions as you need to with the on-site wedding coordinator at the resort. Then trust that the resort will make it beautiful and perfect. Once you arrive, all stress goes away and it is truly a no-worries type of wedding from there on out.
