Special thanks to Destination Wedding Planners Midge and Camille for providing the photos and explanation of DestinationWeddings.com's recent visit to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

If one picture is worth a thousand words, then seeing and experiencing something with one's own eyes is worth a thousand pictures!  A couple of weeks ago, a number of the Destination Wedding Associates had just such an opportunity.  We had on-site inspections of a number of different resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  We toured the various resorts, meeting with the wedding coordinators, exploring the grounds of each resort, checking several different room categories, viewing the various wedding venues at each resort, seeing the different restaurants and, in some cases, having the privilege of eating at some of those restaurants.  I can tell you that without a doubt each and every one of us came away from that trip with a wealth of knowledge and equipped to provide the best information that any couple could ask for when trying to make a decision about where their wedding should take place.

We can now provide you with the invaluable knowledge about which wedding coordinators are most well informed and professional, which resorts have the prettiest beach venue or loveliest gazebo, the best food, the prettiest grounds, the best amenities, can perform a Catholic ceremony or a symbolic wedding and so, so much more.  When it comes to providing you with expert advice there is no substitute for "been there, done that" and we have.  That enables us to provide you with all the information that you need to make a well-informed decision about where to have your perfect dream wedding!

Hello, I just got engaged and I am trying to find a resort to hold 60 people for our wedding. I would love to stay in Punta Cana or Dominican Republic. Does anyone have a resort that they could recommend?

Hello Danielle and Indhira,

Congrats on your engagements! Both of the resorts above are great, but there are several others all over the island. Danielle-one thing to note is that if you have 30 rooms (about 60 people) you would get some great benefits. Several hotels work with us for groups, and you can view a sample of the offerings at:

Hi,

My wife and I are going to Punta Cana July 15-22. We are wanting to have a purely cermonials wedding on the beach. We dont need the marriage licenses etc. but need someone to coordinate some type of official to perform a cermemony as well as al the details...flowers, pictures, champayne, etc. We want something very small and private and will probaby be about 15 guests. Please contact me if you can help. Also we are staying at the Majestic Elegance if this helps. Thanks.

Hi, I live in England and in 2007 my partner and I decided to get married at Melia Caribe tropical. The hotel and wedding were absolutly amazing but we are now having the difficulty in receiving our wedding certificate and are not legally married until we have this. Please keep this in mind if you are planning on getting married abroad.

posted @ Monday, June 08, 2009 10:51 AM by Kelli

Hi Kelli,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having that problem. That can be a common problem that we hear from couples. That's why our specialists recommend doing a pacakge that allows couples to leave with the paperwork. I did that for my DW in the Bahamas last year. It cost us a little more money (not a lot), but we had the certificate with us on the plane home. I hope you receive yours soon!

I strongly recommend couples that are getting married in Majestic Punta Cana to have as their photos done by Tropical Pictures. They are amazing and are at the resort! We had an awesome experience with them! You can even get a hold of them prior to the wedding.

Hi there,

My fiancee and I are looking at possibly getting married in Punta Cana and staying a week (Dec 26, 2010 - Jan 2, 2011 or Feb 12, 2011 - Feb 19, 2011).

Can you give me a run down on what you can do for us? We have heard that the Gran Bahia is nice, but would be open to others. We will have between 50-100 guests.

Thanks,

Brett

Hi there
I am wanting to get married in Punta Cana in possibly the Majestic Colonial, or Dreams Punta Cana.
I need some help though in answering all of the questions I have regarding the venue, how the reception dinner would work if there was rain, etc.
I also would be having between 30 and 40 people coming. Hopefully that means the price of traditional package prices would become lower given the amount of people?
If someone could please email me it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Greetings from Las Vegas,

We are planning to be in Punta Cana for seven days starting June 23rd and we wanted to have a small beach wedding with about 10 to 20 friends. We also hoped to have it at just before sunset. We aren't looking to have a reception since we plan to have one once we return home. We will be staying at the Dreams resort and I hope to have it held close by the hotel and I would like an english ceremony. I could really use help in finding a location and someone to conduct the ceremony and help with the planning. I would really appreciate it if you could please email me with any information on planners, locations and pricing. Thanks so much!

Good morning Michelle,

Congrats on your engagement! I usually try to keep the blog as "anti-sales" as possible, keeping it just as a good info sources for brides. But if you are looking for help in choosing locations, more than the blog provides, you can certainly visit our planner site atwww.DestinationWeddings.com (or click on any of the menu links on the blog), where we do a little over 1,000 DWs per year. If you'd like to ask some questions about our services you can certainly e-mail me at quent@destinationweddings.com. Otherwise there is some great info in other sections of the blog (although I'm guessing you may have already done your homework!)

Hello!

I was recently engaged and would like to have a Destination Wedding in the Dominican Republic. Can you recommend some resorts that would accommodate young, single, party animals as well as older adults? I have no clue where I should begin...

Does anyone need a photographer in Punta Cana? I am a wedding Photographer in Charlotte NC but I am going to be in Punta Cana the last week in march shooting a wedding. I am looking for another wedding while I am there. Hotel and Airfare are already paid so we are just charging for our time.

Hello, I'm booked for vacation in Punta Cana on 4-25-10. I'm told by the hotel that all justices are booked for the month. Is there any hope for me?

posted @ Monday, March 22, 2010 2:19 PM by Julie

Good evening Julie,

Tough break! You are probably out of luck - it's really short notice at this point. However, you could do what a lot of our couples do and get married secretly here in the US (just have a justice do the paperwork - no ceremony). Then you can do a symbolic wedding at the destination, which is basically the exact same ceremony, but you don't have to meet all the legal requirements. That may get you around the justice issue. Good luck!

Hi, I am planning my wedding at Paradisus Palma Real and I would like to explore the idea of renting wedding supplies i.e. linens, chair bows etc. from a wedding "supplier" in Punta Cana. We have one option at the resort but it cost as much to buy the products online. Is there a wedding event decorator or supplier in the area that you would recommend? Your recommendations would be appreciated!

posted @ Wednesday, April 07, 2010 2:00 AM by Louisian

Good morning Louisian,

Unfortunately you are probably out of luck. Most hotels do that for a reason - that's how they make money, so they don't allow other non-contracted vendors come onto their property. The other side of that is that it allows the properties to know the quality of everything, vs. allowing anybody to come on and offer services - which can be dangerous!

Hi, I recently got engaged and my fiance and I are looking into getting married in Punta Cana. We would like to have a Catholic Ceremony and so far have looked into staying a week and having the wedding at the Moon Palace Resort. Does anyone have any suggestions of other all-inclusive resorts that are nice but somewhat affordable for our friends and family? Also, has anyone been to the Moon Palace Resort in Punta Cana?

Hi Megan,
I just recently came from The Moon Palace in Punta Cana (for a wedding) and I was completely blown away!! Prior to going I couldn't find any pics because there weren't any on their main website.. But needless to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Words can't describe how wonderful that place is. And the ceremony & reception site were fabulous. Here are a few pics:

That's a great picture of Melia Caribe Gazebo. Actually there's two gazebos at Melia: the one in the picture is by the Ocean, the other one
it's bigger and nicer but it's far away from the ocean.

Hi Rebeca and congratulations on choosing your destination wedding date!

The brand new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana is amazing! You can learn a lot about it by visiting: http://www.destinationweddings.com/dw/site/main/DisplayResort.asp?dw_showpage=dstp&dw_vid=2003 There, we have information about room types, amenities, restaurants, activities, and of course wedding packages and an exclusive offer through us! You'll also be able to view a number of pictures.

Lastly, your own destination wedding specialist will have even more information to share about this great hotel! If you're not already working with a specialist, please consider doing so by visiting: http://www.destinationweddings.com/dw/site/main/StartNow.asp
