Please join us in welcoming our second bride guest blogger.  Given her chosen blog name of "Cerveza Por Favor" I am sure you will enjoy reading about her adventures as she plans her Mexico Wedding!

Hello!  My name is Annmarie and I am officially a bride to be in Buffalo, NY.  My fiancĂ© Ron and I got engaged in August of '07 on a golf course in Western NY at a family function.  He actually proposed to me unannounced with my entire family front and center.  Lucky for him he had every reason to be overconfident - after about a minute of stone cold shock, I managed to squeak out a yes before I started to cry.  After 6 years of dating, two apartments, our first home, and a crazy dog, we are finally making it official. :)

Our planning began slowly, as we decided to have a long engagement and tie the knot in May of '09 - now just 8 months away!  One of the line items we agreed upon immediately was that we wanted to get married on a beach somewhere gorgeous.  I threw the idea out to my giant family to get an idea of how they felt about our non-traditional idea, and we received overwhelming support (with a few exceptions).  That is when we started tossing around the idea of a destination wedding.  I began to call some travel agents and do a little research online - both of which were overwhelming.  There are just so many avenues you can take!  Not long after my initial frustration, my new boss at work mentioned Destinationweddings.com.  He and his wife went through the site and got married in the Dominican Republic a few years ago and had nothing but GREAT things to say about their experience.  I knew when I went home that night that my first stop online would be destinationweddings.com...

We're getting married in Mexico as well at the Moon Palace on June 26th. Unlike your family though mine has been everything but supportive but I wanted something small. But now to appease everyone I'm having a HUGE reception here in Houston as well as setting up the wedding and dinner in Mexico. I'm looking forward to the vacation almost as much as the wedding at this point! Good luck on your nuptials!

On the whole everyone has been really great about the concept, but my elderly grandparents were not very excited about the idea at all. So, just like you, we are having a traditional reception back home about a month after our destination wedding, which is also in Mexico! We plan on re-affirming our vows at the reception so those who don't make it to Mexico will still feel a part of everything. It's the best compromise we could come up with to make everyone happy! Best of luck to you and your fiance as well!

Wow, I feel for both of you! We were going to have a small "reception" when we got back, and we wanted just a laid back tropical style BBQ. It started getting out of control, with 150+ guests, having to rent a hall, get a caterer, etc. We just axed it in the end. Some people were dissapointed, but we posted the video on our site and invited everybody to watch it, which seemed to help.

Yeah we just pulled the plug on ours for the very same reason yesterday. My mother was livid but she'll get over it or not. Probably not but I can't help it. I deal with enough stress at work. I don't want to deal with the mess of a expensive not even for me reception. I never wanted one to begin with. Where's the beach and a drink when you need one!

Don't worry Michelle, she'll get over it once the destination wedding is over. It's really amazing how much fun a weekend it is, everyone will love it, and totally forget about a reception at home. Our parents were a little dissapointed at first, but after the wedding itself everyone was good (could have been a weekend of cocktails on the beach-that can fix anything!)
