One very popular style of wedding dress is called the mermaid style. It is basically as it sounds. The wedding dress is tight on the top and through the hips. After the hips and around the thigh to knee area, the dress then goes out, like mermaid fins. Not all women will find this style of dress flattering though. You have to be willing to show off your curves to pull this kind of wedding dress off.
A mermaid dress is also known as a trumpet dress due to it's flaring style at the bottom. Mermaid style destination wedding dresses can have a variety of different necklines and styles for the top half of the dress. They can be sleeveless, halters, spaghetti straps, and even short sleeves.
Another variation that makes each trumpet wedding dress unique is the flare on the bottom of the dress. It can start above the knee, at the knee, or right below the knee. It can have a dramatic flare, or it can be a more subtle one. A mermaid dress may even have a slight train in the back.
Lastly, mermaid style destination wedding dresses can be made from a variety of fabrics. They can be slinky silk dresses or they can be ornate lace dresses. If you chose a silk mermaid dress, just know that it will show more of your body than a heavier fabric or lace one will.
There are tons of different mermaid style destination wedding dresses to chose from. Once you know that this is style dress that you want for your wedding, pick out the dress that fits your style the best.

If you are a free spirit and love the Bohemian style, why not carry that style over into your wedding dress choice? Bohemian destination wedding dresses are quite common these days, especially if you are getting married outdoors. They offer a somewhat zen and earthy style for your wedding.
When choosing a Bohemian style wedding dress chose fabrics that are not heavy, but are light and airy. Also, delicate and soft fabrics such as lace and chiffon are also a good option for this style of dress.
Your wedding dress should have delicate details to it and not be overpowering in any way. Things such as soft layers or a sheer overlay fit well into this style. If you are going for this style you should avoid destination wedding dresses that are too structured and heavy looking. Avoid dresses like ballroom gowns and ones that are body hugging style. Instead look for ones that have an empire waist and float away from the body without being too big.
Bohemian wedding dresses fit well into destination weddings that are in the garden or wooded area. They also fit well into intimate barefoot on the beach weddings. Add some flowers into your hair and you have the perfect Bohemian look for your wedding day.

If you happen to find a wedding dress that you really like, but something seems to be missing from it, you can easily add some accessories to the dress to make it more of your vision. There are plenty of different accessories that you can add to destination wedding dresses.
One accessory that you can add is a broach. Some brides may think of broaches as being out of style, but if you look at runways from famous wedding dress designers, you will see dresses with diamond or other gemstone broaches. These broaches don't have to be worn in the usual way. They can be placed at the side of the hip to add some style to your dress. Or with halter destination wedding dresses, you can place them in the middle of the chest area where the neckline goes into a v.
Another accessory that you can add to destination wedding dresses are sashes. Sashes are a hugely popular accessory for wedding dresses nowadays. Look around at any wedding dress boutique and you will find several dresses with sashes. You can choose from sashes the same color of your dress or pick one that compliments the colors of your wedding. A sash can be thick or thin, as long as the dress or tied in a bow in the back. It all depends on your style of your dress and your taste.
Make your wedding dress your very own, and add some unique accessories to it so that it fits your vision of your dream dress.

Who says that just because you are having a destination wedding, your dress can't have a train? Although trains are quite popular with classic weddings, don't rule out destination wedding dresses with trains for your wedding.
The key to picking a wedding dress with a train for your destination wedding dress is to still make the dress appropriate and be comfortable. No one wants to be lugging around this big, long train in the sand, but a dress with a little train in the back may work for you.
If you want to be more of a traditional bride even though you are having a destination wedding, then keep some tradition with your wedding dress. Some woman don't feel like they are wearing a wedding dress unless it has a train. For destination wedding dresses, you want to stick with dresses that have a slight train. These types of destination wedding dresses give you the classic style and are still feasible for a destination wedding.
You can choose a dress in which the train can easily be bustled up in the back or have a wrist bracelet sewed into the underside of the train so you can carry the train on your wrist. There are so many options that you have and so many different train lengths and styles that are available from wedding dress designers.
Destination wedding dresses with a slight train are a great way to feel elegant and like a princess on your wedding day while still keeping with a more casual atmosphere for your destination wedding.

There are some brides that have dreamed about their wedding dress since they were a little girl. Some brides when they think of their dream wedding dress, they envision sparkles, glitter, and gleam. Don't let a destination wedding stop you from having the wedding dress of your dreams.
Even if you feel uncomfortable with destination wedding dresses that are full of glitter and sparkle, then opt for a dress that adds only a touch of it. It could be a crystal brooch or a sparkling band or hem on the dress. Even just a few sparkles here and there on the dress can make you feel like a princess on your wedding day.
If you do want to go all out with the sparkling wedding dress, then by all means go for it. This is your wedding and as long as the dress is not too over the top, then you can pull it off for a destination wedding. Some sparkling wedding dresses may even go better than plain ones if you are having a wedding on the beach under the stars or if you planning on having more of a glamorous style destination wedding.
Wedding dress designers are even making more casual short destination wedding dresses that have the sparkle and glitz to them. It's no longer necessary to get the glitzy, sparkling dress and have to have it be long or big and shaped like a ball gown. Nowadays, there are plenty of casual and classic styles that add the sparkle to add some personality and uniqueness to them.

If you are a future bride and you are not afraid to show some leg at your wedding, then a minidress may be the wedding dress for you. Believe it or not, one of the growing trends for destination wedding dresses is high hemlines. The short wedding dress has raised it's hemline from right below the knee to above the knee.
If you were to look at several wedding dress designer's collections, you are bound to find at least one minidress in each collection. Since most destination weddings are more casual, mini-destination wedding dresses are being seen at more and more destination weddings. One would not wear a minidress to a church ceremony, but may have no problem wearing one to a beach wedding. Some brides who are having church ceremonies are changing their dress and partying the night away in their micro-mini wedding dress instead of their formal one.
It takes some guts to pull of a minidress as your wedding dress. This trend is definitely not for everybody. Even when wearing a mini, you still want to look classy and not trashy, so you must find a kind of dress that fits you properly and still looks appropriate.
Micro-mini destination wedding dresses can come in a variety of shapes and styles. There are form fitting ones, loose ones, babydoll dresses, and even bubble hem dresses. If you are looking for a micro-mini wedding dress be sure that you try on the different styles to see which one best fits your body shape and is appropriate for your wedding. Some minidresses may look really nice on a model or on the hanger, but don't do you justice when you try it on.
